Josh and Kristy - September 2018

Kristy and Josh had the most beautiful intimate elopement wedding in Kakadu, at Gunlom Falls. Their ceremony was held in a lovely shady location near the campground. With their two gorgeous kids and a handful of family members only watching on, Kristy and Josh said I do. They sealed their marriage with a branding ceremony, then we went to the base of the falls for family photos.

The wow factor photos however, were captured at the top pools of the falls. Hiking up the side of the cliffs was no mean feat (I had pneumonia at the time so that made it fun…not! ). Kristy and Josh got changed into sports clothes for the hike up, carrying their wedding clothes in a large garbage bag to protect them. When we reached the top pools, they had a quick dip in the water then quickly dresses in their wedding clothes so we could capture the sun lowering against the cliffs.

Whilst the sunset was plain that evening, the beautiful surrounds made for gorgeous images and the water pool created a beautiful mirror.

After the images were all taken, there was one final request - a photo of them jumping in the water with all their wedding gear on. We found a shallower spot (I’ve heard too many stories of tragedies with brides jumping in deep water and their dress engulfing them so please don’t rush out and do it in deep water), and on three, they jumped in!

The images came out beautifully and a selection of their images at the top pools were later used by Tourism NT as the headliner images for their ‘Say I do in the NT’ campaign. (See article here - https://northernterritory.com/.../kristy-and-joshs...)
